Course Code Structure
To standardize product (course) codes all current and new courses will adopt the following course code structure.
Each Course Code comprises of letter and number values, the letter values are attributed in some form to the description of the course environment or industry. The letter values are attributed to the appropriate skill level, specific definer and number of days required.
Example; TC1002 Telecom Authorized Climber – 2 day Work at Height & Rescue Training
-
TC1002 = Telecom
-
TC1002 = Authorized Climber (Entry Level)
-
TC1002 = Specific Definer
-
TC1002 = Number of Days
-
TC1002-T = Tractel (Manufacturer)

Skill Level / Competency
The first number value indicates the experience level attributed to the course. The following is to clarify industry language that is attributed to the course.
Skill Level 2
Rope Access = Level 2 Technician
Telecom/MET = Competent Climber
Confined Space = Entry & Rescue
Fall Protection = Competent Person (WAHR)
Gen. Industry = Competent Rescuer
Skill Level 1
Rope Access = Level 1Technician
Telecom/MET = Authorized Climber, (WAHR)
Wind Energy = Entry Level, (Safe Access & Rescue)(WAHR)
Confined Space = Awareness
Fall Protection = Authorized User
Gen. Industry = Authorized Work at Height & Rescuer (WAHR)
Note: (WAHR) Work at Height Rescue share the same learning objectives within different training environments. These courses are the primary focus under third party certification requirements.
Skill Level 3
Rope Access = Level 3 Supervisor
Telecom/MET = Competent Climber/Rescuer
Wind Energy = VERT Technician
Skill Level 3 defines not a skill level but a specific skill or training specification.
For Example within Telecom ENSA has two additional training courses; Competent Rescuer (2 day) and Competent Climber/Rescuer (3 Day). Both are given a skill level of 3 however are differentiated by the number of days attributed to the training course. If they were the same amount of days then a specific definer would be required.
Skill Level TtT
Telecom/MET = TC1002 (WAHR)
Wind Energy = WE1002 (WAHR)
Fall Protection = FP1001
Gen. Industry = IND1001 (WAHR)
Skill Level TtT is Train the Trainer based around Trainer Candidates learning the delivery of an ENSA (WAHR) student course.

Specific Definer
A “Specific Definer” is attributed a custom number. This definer stipulates a specific equipment preference, additional learning objective or customer need.
Both numbers are used together to allow for 99 specific definers.
Document/Form Code Structure
As part of version control all documents and forms held under the QMS system are identified and catalogued under the following format;
QMS for Version Control is in accordance with British Standard 8454 Code of practice for the delivery of training and education for work at height and rescue. Section 3.1.3., and consists of the following;
-
Page numbers and the total number of pages in the document;
A-100_13-.01 Assessment Student Course Feedback
Issue Date: 03.2012
Revision Date: 09.2013
A revision number;
-
An issue date;
-
A unique document reference

b) A revision number A-100_13-.01
Each revision number identifies the year the revision was introduced and the revision number. The revision number is a component of the unique document reference and is separated by an underscore for clarity.
d) A unique document reference A-100_13-.01
Each document or form is catalogued under a letter and numbering system to allow for easy identification and organization under the QMS version control system. The letter values are attributed to three specific quality management categories within the ENSA Training Program Guidelines;
-
E – All Non-Administrative Documents used within the delivery of a training course. For example, the following documents foe the Delivery of TC1002 Authorized Climber – Telecom would commence with the E Code.
-
Skill Evolutions Manual
-
Crib Notes
-
PowerPoint
-
Test and Test Key
-
Lesson Plan
-
TR – All Administrative Forms and Support Documents (Documents found within the appendix of the ENSA Training Program Guidelines) used within the Design, Develop, and Implement, components under the QMS ADDIE Model.
-
A - Is specific to the Assessment & Audit components under the Quality Management system. All audit and evaluation documents and forms fall into this category.
Preceding the Letter Values are the numerical categories in the ascending order of 100 and is used as a “General Definer” for example;
A-600 = Assessment Student Course Feedback
A-700 = Assessment Student (Trainee)
A-300 = Assessment Train the Trainer (Instructor Candidate)
A-400 = Assessment RITR and CIP Instructor
The ascending order is open ended (A-100… A-2500…) allowing for systematic version control cataloging under four (4) digits.
The third (3rd) number within the numerical category also runs in ascending order and is used as a “Specific Definer” for example;
A-701 = Assessment Student Trainee - Vertical Rescue (Authorized Climber)
A-702 = Assessment Student Trainee – Confined Space
A-703 = Assessment Student Trainee – Suspended Access
A-704 = Assessment Student Trainee – Rope Access
A-705 = Assessment Student Trainee – First Aid
If additional categorization “specific Definer” is needed the last two numbers in the numerical category (205) are attributed in ascending fashion (no preference), thus allowing for greater flexibility and variation.
