Webmaster's Note: As Gerard says below, his Fourth Report came in two parts. I have incorporated the "Listing of Best Homolog" portion into this file, while the Excel Spreadsheet is accessible via a separate "click" on the main Genome page, following the “click” that got you to this document.
From Gerard: "My fourth report is composed of 2 documents. Actually both were made by my colleague Michel Kress in Villejuif and myself. The first one "List of Physarum traces-hits" is a Microsoft Excel listing of 651 traces of the Physarum pilot assay, showing what we believe are 'significant homologies' to previously known proteins. This was done by comparing the 22,616 translated Physarum reads to the "nr" bank.
The second document "listing of best homolog" shows for each of these reads an alignment corresponding to the best score. This second document is also helpful in obtaining the Ti number of each sequence. Example: You are interested by the PCNA homology of reads #33 of the Excel document. The read identity is POAA-aab24f11. Searching POAA-aab24f11 in the second document gives you access to the "ti" 818415229 code which you can use to get access to the sequence in the trace archive for a closer examination. We did not include the many reads showing homology to reverse transcriptase, integrase and the various polyproteins encoded by repeated retransposon-like sequences that are obviously abundant in the Physarum genome.
The Excel document is presented sorted in alphabetical order of the organism with the closest homolog, to show that Dictyostelium is the closest relative.
