Adult learners of all ages and educational backgrounds are invited. Participants are expected to have an interest in the political transitions in the late 80ies and their relevance for Europe today and a good oral command of English. Reading and writing skills are of secondary importance. Accommodation and workshop rooms are wheelchair accessible.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
The workshop starts by asking for your own memories, experience and knowledge of the political transitions in your own country and/or other European countries. We will share and illustrate our memories, perspectives and reflections through "objects" (pictures, newspaper clippings, letters, documents etc) related to the political transitions in Europe. Field trips to memorial sites in Berlin and discussions with eyewitnesses will help us to understand the variety and diversity of the political transition processes in Europe and their consequence for today's political and personal life. In the second phase of the workshop we will play a simulation reflecting several aspects of the transitions. The setup of this regime change simulation is a fictitious country, which allows us to focus on some basic elements and dominant interest groups involved in the political transitions throughout Europe.

Wir sprechen Menschen allen Alters an, aus privatem Interesse am Workshop teilzunehmen. Die Inhalte werden auf leicht verständliche Weise vermittelt, so dass keine Vorkenntnisse erforderlich sind. Wir möchten auch Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund und behinderte Menschen für das global wichtige Thema begeistern.
We address people of all ages who’d like to participate out of private interest. The contents are explained in an easily understandable way, so that no previous knowledge is required. We would also like to inspire people with migration backgrounds and handicapped people for this globally important subject.

In diesem interaktiven Workshop stehen Sie im Mittelpunkt, denn es geht um den Einfluss unseres Konsums auf Mensch und Natur. Am Beispiel Palmöl möchten wir Ihnen globale Zusammenhänge aufzeigen; ein großer Teil unserer Speisefette, Kosmetika und Kraftstoffe wird aus der Frucht der Ölpalme hergestellt. Für den Anbau wird Regenwald zerstört, das Klima beeinflusst, und es werden Menschenrechte verletzt. Wir stellen Ihnen die Ergebnisse unserer Recherchereise in Indonesien vor, und ein indonesischer Gast wird uns von den verheerenden Folgen des Palmöl-Booms in seiner Heimat berichten. Wie wir die Situation verbessern können, möchten wir mit Ihnen diskutieren: Welche unterschiedlichen Erfahrungen haben Sie beim Einkauf in ihren Ländern gemacht? Welche Voraussetzungen benötigen Sie, um sich sozial und ökologisch verträglich verhalten zu können? Über spielerische Übungen, ein Aktionstheater sowie erlebnis-pädagogische Freiland-Arbeit werden Sie Lösungswege entwickeln. Eine Einzelhandels-Recherche in Berlin und ein Besuch des "Öko-Dorfes" Brodowin runden den Workshop ab.
In this interactive workshop you are the center of attention, because we will discuss the influence of our consumption on people and nature. Using the example of palm oil we would like to show you global concerns; a big part of our cooking fat, cosmetics and fuels is made from the fruit of the oil palm. Its cultivation causes rainforest destruction, affects the climate and results in human rights violations. We will present you the results of our research trip to Indonesia, and an Indonesian guest speaker will inform us about the devastating consequences of the palm oil boom in his country. We would like to discuss with you different means to improve the situation: What are your experiences as consumers in your countries? Which conditions must be met for you to act acceptably, both socially and ecologically? Using playful approaches, an action theater and outdoor experiential learning, we will develop different approaches to the problem. An investigation in the retail sector in Berlin and a visit to the Eco-Village Brodowin will complete the workshop.

Die Europäische Tafel zu Gast in Brandenburg

Europäische Erwachsene ab 18 Jahren die Interesse daran haben, gesundes Essen aus regionalen Produkten selbst zuzubereiten und im Austausch mit anderen neue Anregungen erhalten wollen.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Im Workshop werden die Teilnehmenden den Geschmack Europas kennenlernen und erhalten neue Informationen zur Lebensmittelgewinnung und Zubereitung. Am Ende beim Abschlussdinée sind alle Teil einer einmaligen Europäischen Tafel. Das erste persönliche Kennenlernen erfolgt locker auch durch die aus ihren Heimatländern mitgebrachten Lebensmittel. Die Mahlzeiten werden von den Teilnehmenden für die Teilnehmenden selbst zubereitet. Alle haben zu Beginn die Möglichkeit, eigene Interessenschwerpunkte in den Workshopablauf zu integrieren. Im Verlauf des Workshops werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten vorgestellt, wie sie Lebensmittel direkt beim "Erzeuger" beziehen können und unterschiedliche Zubereitungsarten von Lebensmitteln vorgestellt. Die Bandbreite des Selbstgemachten reicht von der Marmelade über Nudeln, Fleisch, Fisch, Wurst, Käse bis hin zu Tees und Salaten. Exkursionen zu Erzeugern und in die Natur selbst sowie zu regional bekannten Spitzenköchen geben uns neues Wissen, Inspiration und Mut, bisher Unbekanntes auszuprobieren.
