Education Through Sport

Subject area: Health education

Physical education and sport

Working language(s): EN
Target Group + Translation:
15-20 adult learners from different European countries are expected, who are interested in developing their self-confidence and social skills through sportive activities. A wide range of participants can apply to the workshop; especially people with the disadvantaged background (e.g. unemployed) and from different cultures and regions are welcome. Participants are not required to have any previous skills in sports, but should have adequate knowledge in English.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
The aim of the workshop is to develop participants’ individual and social skills, relevant to their personal development and learning needs. During the workshop, the participants’ creativity, team-work skills, self-confidence and readiness for collaboration with others will be enhanced. Sport has a power to influence people with very different cultural and social background, so it can be used as a tool in the education process, providing competence development for personal fulfilment and giving an impulse to live more actively. Main activities of the Workshop are planned following the prototype of the Olympic Games, where each activity gives us the possibility to learn and/or experience some new knowledge, skill or value. The programme of the Workshop consists of four different parts, where participants have an active role (learning through action): health, values in sport, teamwork and culture. The participants are expected to use their knowledge in their home countries, organising the model of “Olympic Games” for introducing Estonian culture as well as creating a bases for the uniting their community.
