The workshop will aim to foster cooperation, partnerships, training and exchange of good practice, between young adult, ethnic minority and migrant groups across Europe. Through strengthening our own community groups, we will be able to build relationships and partner with other ethnic minority groups in order to work together as active European citizens on issues of shared interest. Activities will include, workshops and training in community organising skills, social action, volunteering and active European citizenship. The workshop will also provide the opportunity for participants to engage in dialogue with active young adult community leaders in the UK and have meaningful cultural experiences in the London Jewish community which will host them. Training workshops will be interactive using a broad range of training techniques, including discussion, peer lead and experiential learning. We will visit local social action projects where ethnic minority groups are working together towards the common good, in order to learn from people on the ground, carrying out good models of volunteering and active citizenship.

Our national cuisine, the food we cook and mealtimes with family and friends are important to us. We invite you to share stories of your favorite dishes and dinnertimes. Working with Stand + Stare Collective, you will develop basic digital skills and help create a collection of food related stories for Theatre Jukebox. Unlike a regular jukebox that plays songs, Theatre Jukebox allows people to choose from a selection of postcards and hear stories brought to life through images, sound and film. Through this workshop you will learn to use smart phones and blogs creatively to record your experiences and develop your confidence with using new technology. Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
From Grass-roots to Green Lines; Developing & Celebrating a Life Enhancing Action: A Green Line ‘grown’ by community enthusiasm and effort. The workshop is an Action Research programme with participants envisaging and planning a multi-functional community (‘grass-roots’) trail – A ‘Green Line’. The plan to be capable of realisation (developed and promoted) by community based actions (by physical use, leaflets, web sites, celebratory events, community gatherings) and presented to appropriate authorities for formal implementation. The Green Line development to be used as a dynamic & practical means of encouraging engagement in social, community, environmental, well-being, celebratory & economic action amongst disadvantaged and isolated groups and communities. The workshop explores the full process of route planning and delivery – covering issues relating to purpose, form & function, health and safety, campaigning & marketing, sustainability, group management, associated community activities, commercial connections & supporters. The programme will include sessions with local ‘route developers & promoters’, volunteers & supportive commercial interests. Visits to include a variety of, national, regional and local ‘Green Lines’ including their information centres, evaluating their contribution to the themes of the Green Line Workshop and assessing their potential as exemplars for use elsewhere. The working sessions, which will be creative, experiential and informal set in a context of celebratory activity. Celebratory, as the gathering of diverse people for common purpose is worth celebration; Celebratory because the activities will be set in a context of words, music, dance and song; Celebratory because such an approach creates it’s own dynamic and energy and becomes , itself, a methodology. Day 1: ‘Contexts’ Who are we? Where are we? What and Where are the Green Lines? Evening: “Nooks and Crannies Event”, exploring the town Day 2: Experiencing The Green Line: Working with experienced trail developers on key issues. Evening: ‘Musical discoveries’ amongst ourselves and others Day 3: The Green Line as National trail & regional trail: Offa’s Dyke & Glyndwr’s Way Long Distance Footpaths. Evening 3: The muse – notes, blogs, impressions in words Day 4: The Urban Green Line. Where would a trail go – and how? Evening: Social preparations for the final Exhibition Ceilidh Day 5: Action Steps towards a Green Line: detailed proposals & delivery plan. Evening: Exhibition & Celebration, Music, Words & Dance – a ‘twmpath dawns’ (ceilidh) using local & international talent, an event open to the whole local community
