Living Languages Through Europe

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Focus on the cultural diversity and living languages through Europe and raise awareness of minorities.
DAY 1 - General presentation about living languages and minorities in the region in Turkey and as a whole in Europe, their history backgrounds, characteristics features, cultural diversity with society will be covered and negotiated in groups.
DAY 2 - Meeting on minority samples linguistic units as grammar and in a very general context by cademicians of Living Languages Institute at Mardin Artuklu University.
DAY 3 - Mardin Public Education Center, Mardin Gap Cultural Center, Mardin Youth and Culture House, Mardin Syranian Culture Associations and all related organizations about languages and cultures will be visited and there will be prospect briefing upon the workshop content and intercultural dialogue.
DAY 4 - Cultural visit to the constructions such as monasteries, mosques, churches, medresahs, citedals in the city which shows the remains of the prehistoric and historical civilazations contributing to the blends of languages, cultures, religions and colours in the region.
DAY 5 - The participants in the route of coordinator instructions and assistance will be given the tasks to take the pictures of a building, a material or an object that appeals to a certain language that they learnt during the workshop. So the participants with the group will make a draft upon their tasks in Mardin old town and each group share their own workshops by presentation and at the end of the presentations there will be closure and attendance certification session.

Adults from different ages, education and profession, but particularly for individuals having little access to education and/or facing dissadvantaged circumstances (unemployed, social/economical difficulties, low education).
Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Create awareness about the environmental sensitivity by using recycling. Produce new products out of materials which are originally from any kind of materials such as packages of consumer goods like candy bags, papers, detergent sacks, clothes, accessories, furniture, textile etc. and share the joy of creativity. Trainers will give information about methods how participants produce new materials by given materials. Participants will learn practical methods using recycled material for crafting new and different items that can be useful or decorative accessories, instead of throwing them away, they can make different kinds of products for other benefits. The workshop will encourage the creativity, artistic exploration, and talents to some extent of participants to utilize organic and inorganic wastes as useful or valuable crafts. They will also use this productivity as their source of income. A home industry of making new products will support the family income. The workshop will use the techniques of peer learning and experiential learning, with specific activities including cultural presentations, evaluating sessions, ice-breakers. The program includes workshop activities, inter-cultural events, meeting with the local community and a few hours of free time. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about culture in an informal way.
