Subject area: Intergenerational learning / learning in later life / senior citizens

Intercultural education

Artistic education, also including Arts and Crafts and Music
Working language(s): EN
Target Group + Translation:
Young people (age 18-25) and ‘Active age group’ (age 55 and up).- Participants must have musical quality/experience – Participants are required to have advanced amateur level musicianship in order to function in a band setting. Although differences in proficiency are not a big problem, it should not be so that he/she cannot join the group in the creative process, or that he/she holds the group back. The musical quality will be determined by means of involvement of local partners (audition), or use of (online) media.
Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Music brings people together. “ReGeneration – Music across Ages”, the workshop by Roots & Routes (R&R) with partner Euro+, is aimed at joining the talent of younger and older music makers: people who enjoy making and sharing music. Participants will join in mixed intergenerational and intercultural music bands that will work on making new material: songs to be presented at the end of the workshop. Along the way, participants will learn from, and become inspired by, each other in order to enrich their music making, and music appreciation. The programme consists of a series of workshops under the guidance of an experienced band coach. A masterclass by an inspirational musician (to be determined soon and published online!) is part of the programme, as are joined social activities, and a presentation (show) on a professional stage at the end of the programme.
