Shadow Theatre

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Shadow Theatre workshop will use the part of puppetry focused on animating different objects’ shadows art to develop the visual and nonverbal communication abilities and competences of the people working in intercultural context, with children or disabled people- educators, youth workers, animators and social assistants, parents, grandparents but also elderly persons. The learners will understand how to use the power of image succession and all kinds of light and shadow effects to express ideas, feelings, and to communicate them to other people inside of their own families or for different kind of community (ex. Kindergarten children, disabled people, social problems groups or interethnic communities). The workshop plans showing that shadow theatre is a very cheap but extremely creative art form with a powerful impact for the audience (even is for one child or hundred). The workshop leader– Eugenia BARBU, is actress and puppeteer in Tandarica Theatre since 1992, and trainer in European projects since 2008. She has a lot of experience in this field. The program includes workshop activities, intercultural events, meeting with local community and, of course, few hours of free time. day activities.

Day 1: Introduction; knowing each other; team building Ice breaking and names games Presentation of the hosting area and practical details A short site seeing Expectation, fears and contribution Flipchart and post it Presenting the workshop’s objectives and agenda Flipchart Short shadow history Story telling with examples and role play Short movies and a power point Discovering the expressivity of shadow Playing with different lights sources- candles, light bulbs. Projector Visual effects, tips and tricks Intercultural evening 1 Presentation of the food, music, dances from participants’ countries

Day 2: Team building Theatre acting exercises to increase the individual trust and confidence and to build the team Shadow theatre in my country The participants present to the group the research’s result in their own community about shadow theatre. Express visual your ideas using the hands shapes in shadow Improvisation and nonverbal dialogs with free hands in shadow- individual Express your ideas using the bodies shapes in shadow Experimenting in small teams (3participants) nonverbal communication, with bodies shapes Intercultural evening 2 Presentation of the food, music, dances from participants’ countries

Day 3: Telling the stories (nonverbal in visual language) just with shadows Session 1 The participants will have to analyse different movement styles – animal, birds, human, fishes- method work small groups in nature And to create stylised shapes of the characters Shadow Animation of different materials The participants will have to find the right materials to create the shapes resulted from the previous session Intercultural evening 3 Romanian evening

Day 4: Telling the stories (nonverbal in visual language) just with shadows Session 2 Work in small groups Choosing one story, legend, fairy tale..etc Making shadow performances Rehearsing the performances Starting from a fairy tale or from a melody the participants in small groups will have to create performances Working in small teams, in big group to prepare the performance

Day 5: Rehearsing the performance Creating the final performance like a puzzle with a selection with the best moments of the workshop Performance Presentation of the performance will be for disadvantaged people, for kindergarten children in Coldlea and surroundings The final evaluation Evaluation official forms; the final movie analyse ; discussion in circle Plans for future projects- if is the case.

INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION THROUGH OUTDOOR PROGRAMS

adults working with multicultural groups and coming from bi-, or trilingual communities

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Exchange experiences and find new ways, techniques and methods how intercultural education can be developed in and with outdoor activities. The programme contains outdoor activities like expedition in the Eastern-Carpathians, outdoor problem-solving exercises, intercultural city challenge in the multicultural town Sighisoara/Segesvár/Schässburg. The design, delivery and debrief of all the activities will focus on the issue of intercultural education, how outdoor education can contribute to a better knowledge about each others culture, habits.

Youth workers and youth leaders (18+) interested in global topics such as diversity, intercultural learning and social inclusion, concerned about the present situation and motivated to act as multipliers or that work with different disadvantaged groups.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
This project will offer the opportunity social workers and community leaders to explore social problems at deeper levels as well as to bring this important dimension into their work. They will be able to use an innovative method as Forum Theatre through which they will create a context for dialogue and learning between people from different social categories or from the same category that are facing the similar problems. They can be facilitators, community leaders, people who would like to get more involved in the community problems, project coordinators.
