Dalian is a famous summer resort and a popular tourist destination in the world. Dalian won the UN Habitat Award and was entitled “Global 500 Environment Award” by the UN. Ⅰ. About DPU Founded in 1958, Dalian Polytechnic University is located in the beautiful, romantic, dynamic and modern city- Dalian. It is the only multi-disciplinary university in the northeast of China, in which six important disciplines have been developed successfully--engineering, literature, management, science and economics. Engineering is the key discipline and light industry, food, textile and art are all its features. DPU has 17 schools (departments), including 5 major subjects in Liaoning Province. DPU is a project-oriented construction unit for 3 first-class subjects in doctor’s degree conferring; 15 subjects in that of master’s degree conferring, including four main study areas of technology, science, art and management. DPU has 40 undergraduate programmes, 15 of which are pioneering and leading programmes in Liaoning Province. Fashion Design & Engineering and Art Design are assessed as the A﹢programs, and the two programmes have been ranked the top 5 % among similar programmes in China. Besides, Fashion Design & Engineering and Art Design are also an integral part of the joint-project between Dalian Polytechnic University and University of Southampton, one of the best 100 universities in the world. At present, about 20,000 undergraduates and junior college students are studying in DPU, including 1445 graduates. Around 400 overseas students are recruited each year. As the internationalization of higher education progresses, DPU has been offering its education to the world. Up till now DPU has established cooperative relationships with more than 30 universities and enterprises in the U.S.A., the U.K. , France , Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea etc. Ⅱ. Introduction for the recruitment of foreign students The school of International Education is in charge of recruiting, teaching and managing foreign students in Dalian Polytechnic University. About 1400 students from France, Italy, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Russia, Mongolia, Sweden and Thailand etc. have studied in DPU since 2006. After years of development and construction, the school of International Education has built up a wealth of international teaching and management experience with well-recognised reputation. Our teaching staff is known for their outstanding teaching experience and academic excellence. There are language labs, multi-media classrooms, libraries and other modern teaching facilities in the teaching blocks and our school campus which cater for the different needs of students. Various extra-curricular activities and cultural exchange activities are held every year to enrich the life of foreign students and enhance their ability to use languages in their daily life. All these activities have been tailor-made for foreign students to have better understandings of the history and culture of China through the learning of the Chinese language. Ⅲ. Qualifications for Admission
Doctoral Degree Programmes Qualifications for Admission: Holding a master’s degree; Recommendation of two professors; A Chinese level of HSK 6; Or passing DPU’s Chinese examination; (3 to 5 years)
Holding a bachelor’s degree; Recommendation of two associate professors; A Chinese level of HSK 6; Or passing DPU’s Chinese examination; (2.5 to 3 years)
Holding a high school certificate; A Chinese level of HSK 6; Or passing DPU’s Chinese examination; (3 to 4 years)
General Refresher Course Students： Holding junior college experience. Senior Refresher Course Students：Holding a Master’s degree or studying for Doctor’s Degree. Note: New semester will begin in March or September twice for the students pursuing a degree, long-term Chinese learning students and refresher course students each year. Short-term Chinese learning students and group applications can be applied at any time. Ⅳ. .Chinese Language Study
Refresher Programmes Refresher programmes are divided into general refresher courses and senior refresher courses, students have the option of choosing any related major at the university. Ⅵ
NOTE: School of International Education（Sino-foreign Educational Programme） After the 4-year education, students who have obtained the required credits and passed the exams can receive the bachelor degrees from both DPU and UoS.

Ⅷ.Living Guidance  Ways to the University：The school offers free pickup services （8：00 a.m.~17：00 a.m.）；it costs about 12RMB to arrive at the University from Dalian airport.
Visa Service：The school handles passport and visa procedures for all the students.
Mail Service：The school office will inform and help students to get letters or packages.
Medical Treatment & Insurance ：Students who have no insurance in China should purchase Medical Insurance and Life Accident Insurance at their own expense.
