Who is the research attachment host?

Located in the premises of the Science and Technology Park of la Doua in Villeurbanne Lyon, INSA Lyon is ranked among the top universities in Science and Technology in Europe, and also one of the largest research and innovation centres in France with 21 research laboratories.

INSA Lyon was the first INSA to be created in 1957 and has always had a strong ambition in terms of social awareness. It graduates over 950 engineers each year in 12 fields of specialisation. The University places pedagogical innovation at the core of its training programme, to produce engineers who possess qualities of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The University is located in Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lyon is a city known for its historical and architectural landmarks, combining a rich cultural life with a highly diversified industrial environment.  The city is situated in east-central France in the Rhône-Alpes region, between Paris and Marseille. With daily TGV (high-speed train) services Lyon is about 2 hours by train from Paris and Marseille.

Students can choose from the list of projects/subjects available here. However, this list is not exhaustive and is not updated in real time. Some subjects may have been already cancelled and other subjects can be proposed in other fields like mechanical engineering, civil engineering etc. The research laboratories that can host a student for a research attachment can be found at http://www.insa-lyon.fr/en/laboratories-and-platforms.

Students are to indicate the specific laboratory and/or topic they are interested in in their application form.
Is academic credit available?

Academic credit MAY be available. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit transfer. IRO is unable to apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

What are the eligibility requirements?

General NUS Requirements

Full-time NUS undergraduates Prior research experience in a relevant field will be advantageous Year 3 and 4 undergraduates are preferred, though Year 1 and 2 undergraduates can apply if they have research experience or feel that they are qualified for the programme Students must complete the programme before their conferment date

 

What are the accommodation arrangements?

INSA Lyon will assist students in finding suitable accommodation.

Is travel insurance compulsory?

Yes. NUS students must ensure that they purchase appropriate travel insurance before embarking on their programme. The travel insurance must start on the day of departure and end on the day of your arrival in Singapore.

How much does the programme cost?

The cost estimates below exclude benefits from the university, ie stipend, meals, airfare etc.

Is financial assistance available?

Students selected for the programme are eligible to apply for:

(a) NASA Enhancement Bursary and/or Scholarshipconcurrently using the programme application form (please see "How do I apply?" below)
(b) Overseas Student Programme Loan (Singaporeans only)
(c) PSEA Fund Withdrawal (Singaporeans only)
How do I apply for a visa?

NUS and the host university will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa, if required.

How do I apply for the programme? What happens after I submit my application?

Please submit your application as early as possible as interviews may start before the application deadline.
