Obituary published in the Polk County Enterprise – March 17, 1991 Edition

Livingston – Funeral services for Allie Lee Standley, 87, were held Saturday, March 18, 1991 from Bethel Union Baptist Church in Bold Springs, with the Rev. Frank Hood of Chesswood Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Standley died March 14 in Southmore Hospital in Houston after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 20, 1904 in Bold Springs to Tom Marsh and Polly Scrap Rogers Marsh. She was reared in Bold Springs and attended Bold Springs School. On Dec. 17, 1924 she married Bethel Standley in the Elwood Community of Polk County. To this marriage six children were born, five of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Standley made their home in East Texas,

living in various towns before moving to Houston in 1940, where she had made her home since that time. Mrs. Standley was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Bold Springs. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. One of her many hobbies was gardening and she raised a garden every year. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter,

Nell Whitehead. Survivors include three sons, Bethel E. Standley of Houston, Gerald J. Standley of Shepherd and Richard Marsh Standley of Arlington; two daughters, Leen Zellers of Meadows and Annie Laura Hickman of Houston; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Pallbearers were James Paul Hickman, John Phillip Hickman, Gary Lynn Zellers, Charles “Chuck” Rice, Charles Marcucci, Ralph B. Standley, Brett A. Standley, Nathan Eugene Standley, G. J. Standley Jr., Allen D. Haynes and George L. Haynes Jr.

Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON - B.E. "Gene" Standley, 72, of Houston died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, in a Houston hospital. Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 20, at Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Byrd officiating.Mr. Standley, a retired heating and refrigeration pipe fitter, was born on July 25, 1930 in the Bold Springs community of Polk County to parents Bethel and Lee Marsh Standley. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and had been a resident of Houston since 1942. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Gerald Standley and Nell Whitehead. Survivors include a son, Ralph Standley of Houston; brother, Richard Standley of Ft. Worth and two sisters, Ethelene Zellars of Houston and Annie Hickman of Pearland. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Blanche Coogler Standley, 92, were held Sunday,

May 5, 2002, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Standley died Friday, May 3, in Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center in Houston. She was born Sept. 17, 1909 in Bold Springs, the daughter of John Calhoun Coogler and Joe Anna Oates Coogler. She was preceded in death by her husband Edker and her parents. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nellie "Joe" Jackie and Marvin Yarotsky of Houston; granddaughters and husbands, Karla Kaye and Bart Lewis, Lori Lynn Yarotsky, Nana Ilene and Robert Midcap, Sheila Gayle Jacobson

and Brenda Bess Hazare; great-granddaughters, Tamara Lewis and Amanda Midcap; great-grandsons, Zachary Lewis, Aaron Jacobson, Levi Midcap and David Midcap; nieces and husbands, Ruby and Arthur Oates, Betty Anderson and Anna and Larry Page; nephews, Talmadge Thomas and C.C. death occurred at his home 17 miles east of Livingston, on November 11th,

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for Gerald “Mr. Gunny: Standley, 64, of Shepherd will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, from Bold Springs Church, with Bro. Frank Hood officiating. Interment will follow in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mr. Standley was born May 16, 1932 in Riverside, the son of Bethel and Allie Lee Marsh Standley, and died Feb. 17 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps., had served as president of the

Chamber of Commerce in Shepherd, 1980-1982, and was a life member of VFW Post 1839 and the DAV. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Standley of Shepherd, whom he married

on Dec. 10, 1994; sons, Gerald Standley II, Nathan Standley, Jon Standley, George Haynes, Mark Haynes, Allen Haynes, Neal Haynes, Wayne Bailey, Wesley Bailey and Larry Clark; daughters, Kim Georgio, Dorothy Toohey and Teresa Linney; two brothers; two sisters;

23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Vernon Wayne Bailey, Wesley Harrison Bailey, Larry Neil Clark, James Robert Linney, Randy Ray Bell and

Gary Lynn Zellers. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CORRIGAN – Funeral services for Higia Standley, 76, of Groveton were held at 2 p.m.

Thursday at Corrigan Funeral Home chapel with burial following at the Bold Springs

Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Livingston and Brother Charles Mills officiated. Mr. Standley

died July 10, 1973 at the Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. Mr. Standley was a member of the Baptist church and had lived in Groveton or the past five years. Prior to his moving to Groveton he had been a resident of Corrigan. Survivors include is wife, Mrs. Sylvester Standley of Groveton; three sons, Claude Standley of Corrigan, Estes Standley also of Corrigan and Johnny Standley of Chester; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel McClendon of Lufkin, Mrs. Emma Wars of Groveton, Mrs. Pearl Loving of Lufkin and Mrs. Betty Turner of Lufkin; 25 grand-children; 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Joe Dodd, L. B. Dodd, Robert L. Dodd, E. McCarty, L. Lockhart and Pat McCarty.
