Research programme and results:

Investigations were conducted on the clinical and experimental levels focused on the serotonergic transimssion. At the clinical level, research was directed to the association of genes encoding monoaminoxidase A and B with etiopathogenesis of migraine, as well as on the association of the tryptophan hydroxylase gene with suicidal behaviour. At the experimental level, further behavioural characterisation of rats  selected for extreme values of serotonin transporter an consequent alternations of serotonergic homeostasis, was conducted (Wistra-Zagreb 5HT rat).

Program rada i rezultati na projektu:

Naše terensko uzorkovanje vegetacije i fitonima u god.

Research programme and results:

Our field sampling of the vegetation and phytonyms in 2005 included: Pelješac peninsula including halophytes and marine algae, Dinara mountain range of Troglav-Prolog-Kamešnica, and Sava valley from Zagreb to Slavonski Brod. Biodiversity of fungi on whole territory of Republic of Croatia has been studied: 3,465 records and 587 fungal species have been mapped. 55 species and 8 genera have been recorded as new for Croatian mycobiota, and 3 related scientific papers have been published. Comparative study of phytodiversity and health status of fir-beech forests on Croatian karst is finished and prepared for publishing in 2006. In 2005 selected results of the four-year project of Ministry of Nature Protection and Physical Planning (Mapping the habitats of the Republic of Croatia), were published in 3 references. During this year, our laboratory published 11 scientific and professional papers in the periodicals and monographs, including one quoted in Current Contents and another in Science Citation Index.
