      1. Shop Drawings: Complete details of modular steam room enclosures, including required clearances and locations of service connections.




    1. QUALITY ASSURANCE




      1. Manufacturer Qualifications: A company with not less than 20 years of experience in manufacturing components of the type required for this project.




      1. Regulatory Requirements: Provide only UL listed equipment and controls.




    1. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING




      1. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

    1. MODULAR STEAM ROOM ENCLOSURES




      1. Acrylic modular steam rooms: Prefabricated, packaged unit, complete with fittings.

        1. Construction: Formed acrylic sheet with ABS reinforcement; extruded aluminum base frame.

        2. Thickness: 5/16 in (8 mm) walls and ceiling; 5/8 in (16 mm) seating areas.

        3. Finish: High glazed, white color.




      1. Capacity and Dimensions:

        1. Type I: 2 person capacity; 44 x 44 inches (1118 x 1118 mm).

        2. Type II: 4 person capacity; 83 x 44 inches (2108 x 1118 mm).

        3. Type III (5-sided): 6 person capacity; 83 x 83 inches (2108 x 2108 mm).

        4. Type IV (4-sided): 7 person capacity; 83 x 83 inches (2108 x 2108 mm).

        5. Type V: 9 person capacity; 113 x 83 inches (2870 x 2108 mm).

        6. Type VI: 11 person capacity; 144 x 83 inches (3658 x 2108 mm).




      1. Door: All glass door mounted on aluminum frame.

        1. Glass: 5/16 in (8 mm), tempered and tinted.

        2. Opening: 25-3/8 in by 71-1/4 in (645 by 1810 mm)




      1. Light: Manufacturer's standard, ceiling mounted vapor-proof halogen light fixture.




      1. Thermal Insulation: Not less than R-11, as specified in Section 07212.




      1. Exterior Finish: As specified in Division 9.




    1. STEAM GENERATORS AND CONTROLS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Steam generators are available in capacities suitable for steam rooms of 50 cubic feet to 400 cubic feet. In addition, multiple generators may be connected to provide enough heat for enclosures up to 1350 cubic feet. Specify generator either using the first paragraph below or by using the next two paragraphs to specify a specific model of generator and control.


      1. Generator: HSX Series steam generator with soft steam switching element to maintain a consistent and comfortable steambath environment.

        1. Size generator as recommended by manufacturer for volume of steam room and type of construction materials employed.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete one of the following two paragraphs.

        1. Provide SX60 control with three-button panel for on/off, temperature setting, and time setting.

        2. Provide SX30 control with on/off switch, 30-minute timer, and adjustable temperature range.

        3. Provide steamheads designed not to exceed 125 degrees F (52 degrees C).

        4. Provide temperature sensor.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Use the following two paragraphs only to specify a particular model which has already been sized. When sizing generators, take room construction into account. Use these guidelines to select an appropriate steam generator:

Thinset tile, acrylic, or fiberglass: No volume change.

Tile on mortar bed or cement board backing: Multiply volume by 120%.

Cast iron tub: Multiply volume by 120%.

For each glass, glass block, or exterior wall, multiply volume by 110%.

Natural stone: Multiply volume by 200%.

    1. EXAMINATION




      1. Verify that rough-ins for all utilities are properly sized and in correct locations.




      1. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.




      1. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.




    1. INSTALLATION




      1. Install steam room components in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved shop drawings.




      1. Modular Steam Room Enclosures: Install prefabricated panels to final room dimensions in accordance with manufacturer's assembly instructions; lock panels into place.




      1. Install insulation and vapor barrier in accordance with requirements of Section 07212.




      1. Steam Generators and Accessories: Install and connect steam generators, steam outlets, controls, and temperature sensors. Coordinate with work of mechanical and electrical sections, and connect to utilities.




    1. PROTECTION




      1. Protect installed products until completion of project.




      1. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products after Substantial Completion.
