Task 1. My personal qualities like patience, creativity and flexibility will make me a good teacher. To my mind, teaching some age groups can be chllenging sometimes that is why it is important to be flexible and patient. Creative thinking helps to make lessons engaging and interesting, especially if you work with kids. Also, I improve my communication and organization skills all the time. A well-organized lesson helps to achieve goals and manage the given time properly. When it comes to communication skills, they will help to get on well with any kind of student and be a great source of support and motivation for them.
Task 2. Lesson plan
Lead-in (present simple tense revision):
Ask students what do they usually do at the weekend. Elicit students to make a list of activities. Write down all the variants on the board. Students one after another propose their ideas for the weekend activities. Suggested answers: go to the gym, read a book, go shopping, clean my house, etc.
Presentation:
Teacher writes her name on the board and names of three students from the group (Elena, James, Mary and Joe) saying "I am talking now. James is sitting now. Mary and Joe are taking notes now." Teacher writes TL on the board eliciting from students how the verbs change their forms transforming from present simple into present cotinuous. Students keep on making sentences using actions they provided in the lead-in stage. Practise group drills of these sentences to improve pronunciation of the -ing ending. Focus on using the cotractions making negative sentences: I'm not / isn't / aren't.
Practice controlled:
Teacher puts students in pairs and provide han outs with jumbled affirmative, interrogative and negative sentences. Teacher encourages students to read aloud sentences and correct each other.
Practice free:
Teacher asks students to do a chain story. The first student makes a sentence about himself in present continuous. Next student changes the pronoun "I" into some other. This actvity helps to achieve fluency using verb forms of "to be" with different pronouns. Then, teacher asks students to work in pairs again. Students et each other questions in present continuous tense and practice short answers.
