Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁

Established in 1395 as the official royal residence, this palace is regarded as one of the finest examples of Joseon Dynasty architecture. On its expansive grounds are the National Folk Museum, the National Palace Museum, and the breathtaking Gyeonghoeru and Hyangwonjeong Pavilions.

Changdeokgung Palace 창덕궁

This palace, the best preserved among Seoul’s major palaces, was designated a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO and is most famous for its beautiful garden. To protect the buildings for future generations, only guided tours are permitted.

Deoksugung Palace 덕수궁

Deoksugung harmoniously blends architectural styles of the East and West, and its location in downtown Seoul provides a wonderful retreat from the bustling metropolis. Everyday, a reenactment of the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony is held at its east gate (except Mondays).

National Folk Museum 국립민속박물관

The museum is a showcase of the lifestyle of the Korean people from the prehistoric age to the Joseon Dynasty. The museum displays items for everyday use, major works of art, and replicas.

Situated just near the City Hall Annex, this museum contains many paintings by modern Korean artists. The museum also has a souvenir shop and a cafeteria.
