MINUTES FOR

WORTH COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

BOARD MEETING

HELD THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2016

AT WORTH COUNTY BOARD ROOM

AT 7:00 P.M.
The Worth County Board of Education met Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Worth County Board Room.
Chairman Jenkins called the meeting to order, gave the invocation, led the pledge to the flag and welcomed visitors.

All Board Members were present. Also in attendance was Kay Mathews Ed. S., Superintendent of Schools.


ADOPTION OF AGENDA
Melvin Jefferson made the motion to approve the agenda for May 12, 2016. Randy Bacon seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Dr. Amy Chafin reported the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) and Testing updates. Dr. Chafin presented a power point presentation showing the improvements for each school from 2014 to 2015.
Testing at the high school saw score improvements in Economics, U.S. History, Biology, and Physical Science. Scores also improved at the middle school and elementary school in social studies, science, and ELA. The math score for various grades stayed the same.
Superintendent Mathews gave a construction update to the Board. She reported the engineering site survey team is in progress on campus. Also, the HVAC project at the Middle School is underway as well as the roofing. She also reported that Curt Eckman with Parrish Construction will begin attending board meetings in order to keep the Board updated on construction progress.
AWARD BIDS


  1. Custodial Bid

The Board made the decision to table the Custodial Bid until Maintenance Director, Jimmy Odom, had the opportunity to check the bids to make sure bid specs were met.



  1. Copier Bid

The Board made the decision to table the Copier Bid until Technology Director, Justin Judy, had the opportunity to check bids to make sure bid specs were met.

Randy Bacon made the motion to approve the superintendent’s recommendations under Section B. Jerry Jones seconded the motion. The motion passed with a 4-1 vote. Randy Bacon, William Jenkins, Jerry Jones and William Oliver voted to approve; Melvin Jefferson abstained.
ADJOURN
William Oliver made the motion to adjourn. Jerry Jones seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
