Alumnos de las asignaturas "Comunicaciones por Fibra Optica" y "Redes Ópticas WDM", visitaron la estación de cable submarino de fibra óptica Global Crossing (http://www.globalcrossing.com/), ubicada en Playa Ancha, Valparaíso. Durante la visita los alumnos asistieron a una presentación de la red global Global Crossing, realizada por Senior Cable Station Engineer, Leandro Vasquez (Ing. Civil Electrónico UTFSM), y posteriormente a un recorrido por las instalaciones de las estación, que integra tecnología WDM de punta en este tipo de redes globales. La visita se enmarcó dentro de las actividades extraprogramáticas de las asignaturas antes mencionadas.
