Investigation And Modelling Of Adorption Behavior Of Some Heavy Metal Ions Onto Alunite Ore
Alunite ore has a tendency for adsorption reactions because of its structure. Metal and ligand adsorption onto alunite derive from electrostatic, surface complexation, and hydrophobic interactions. Further, ion exchange reactions accompany the adsorption reactions.
Several adsorbents are used in order to remove heavy metals by means of adsorption. The minerals alunite is natural adsorbent metarial which has rich resources in Turkey. The main reasons why alunite is used as adsorbent for the process of heavy metal adsorption is such that it is available in the nature, economic and most importantly it is suitable for adsorption mechanisms due to their nature and its abundance in Turkey.
The aim of this study is to explain how the alunite ore adsorbs the heavy metals. The alunite ore was received from Dostel Alüminyum Sülfat San. A.Ş. in Kütahya. The adsorption isotherms for Pb(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) divalent metal cation adsorption onto alunite ore were obtained at a constant temperature without pH changes. The constants of the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm were calculated and metal adsorption was adapted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models.
