Gps (Global Posıtıonıng System) Measurement In Forestry Engıneerıng

Today, in acquiring most of the pads which have been produced for foresty workouts, geodetic methods are used in Turkey. In parallel with the geodetic methods and the improving technological opportunities, the computer-aided digital systems have taken the place of the old style mechanical measurement devices. The global positioning systems which have been improved for collecting locational data, are one of the latest steps in this technology. In this work, in which the benefits of technology have been investigated towards foresty purposes, the device performances are examined via these three working areas.

In the first section of this study, the concept of GPS (Global Positioning System) in foresty is explained and the purpose and content of thesis is stated.

In the second section, the concepts of forest and foresty, global positioning systems and the concepts which are concerned with these systems, are explained in detail.

In the third section, the software and hardware which are used in this study, are introduced and the general workouts are explained shortly.

In the indications section of this study, the performance tests of systems which are used in trial ranges, are carried out. The point data which have been acquired featherbed, and the linear and regional data which have been acquired from those data, are presented in this section. The data that are acquired via GPS devices, are compared with the data that are acquired via total station device so that the accuracy analysis has been practiced.

In the discussion and final section, the comments and advises about the assesment of all these data, take place. Eventually, with this study, the using areas of the GPS systems in foresty workouts are defined and it helps guiding which system suits which workout.

As a result, the forestry activities in this study uses the GPS system which works by specifying the system for which guidance would be more appropriate information has been obtained.
