As team member of some projects currently ongoing, I am working on the identification of mosquito populations - geographical and seasonal distribution, the analysis of genetic and environmental determinants in vector feeding behavior, vector competence studies, and screening for arboviruses in wild mosquito populations. Currently, I am also interested on vector control strategies directed to Aedes albopictus and Ae. aegypti mosquitoes, in an European context.
Since 2008, I am responsible for mosquito surveillance activities within the Vector Surveillance National Program (Rede de Vigilância de Vectores - REVIVE).
Recently, I was on the local organization for the 20th Conference of the European Society of Vector Ecology (ESOVE) held in the Faculty of Medical Veterinary, University of Lisbon, and participated as a trainer in the two-day training course on vector ecology and control.
