2.1 Cyclonic Storm (ASHOBAA) over the Arabian Sea (7th – 12th June 2015)

2.1.1 A trough of low at mean sea level lay over Lakshadweep area and neighbourhood on 3rd and over southeast Arabian sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area on 4th and 5th with a cyclonic circulation aloft. It organised into a low pressure area over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 3.1 kms a.s.l. on 6th and became a well marked low pressure area over the same region on 7th, early morning. It then concentrated into a Depression over east central Arabian Sea and neighbourhood and lay centred near Lat. 14.5°N / Long. 68.5°E, about 690 km southwest of Mumbai and 740 km south southwest of Veraval at 0300 UTC on 7th. Moving north northwestwards it lay centred near Lat. 16.0°N / Long. 68.0°E, about 580 km southwest of Mumbai and 560 km south southwest of Veraval at 1200 UTC of 7th.
