Research Interest:

I am engaged in both theoretical and experimental investigations of various aspects of nuclear reactions.

Experimental Investigations with several radioactive ions / loosely bound ions / strongly bound ions were carried out to study the role of different target projectile systems in the mechanism of nuclear reactions, such as fission/fusion dynamics. This has application in the development of AHWR and ADS System. This work is done in collaboration with several national and international institutes.


  • Theoretical Model development and calculations of the nuclear reactions and its dynamics using various nuclear potentials and associated parameters. This work is done in collaboration with Instituto de Fisica, Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

TEACHING INTEREST:

Since last 26 years, I have been engaged in the teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the M.Phil. Ph.D. students.


  • I have supervised 9 students to obtain their Ph.D. degrees in the field of Nuclear reactions and Spectroscopy in experiment and theory. 4 more students are working under my supervision for their Ph. D degrees in Fusion-fission reactions, elastic and transfer reactions, nuclear structure using the facilities of BARC Reactors, Indian National Gamma Arrays, Pelletron facilities at New Delhi and Mumbai.

  • I have also supervised several graduate and undergraduate students at iThemba LABS, South Africa for their dissertations leading to their degree by research.

  • Postgraduate Teaching: Experimental and Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Statistical Mechanics

  • Undergraduate Teaching: Modern Physics, Heat & Thermodynamics, Acoustics, Optics, Fundamentals of Bio-Medical Physics (Theory and Experiment) to the Medical Students.
