SQUARE PLAYS AND ZORKHANA GAMES
Summary
With an ancient history square plays and zorkhana games are still widespread among the people these days. As an integral part of the ceremony folklore plays are shown basically in significant days and holidays. Playing with stone,spear and archery, fencing, wrestling, weightlifting, tightrope walker and so on belongs to these plays and games. There are also games played on horseback, they are also completely original and colorful square plays. Games played on horseback like "Cirit", "Chovgan","Surpapag", "Baharbend", "Yaylıq", "Gerdekqachirma", "Papaq" and many other games has maintained its color and have survived to the present day. Zorkhana games on horseback has an ancient history and it also requires great skill. In addition, wrestling on horseback is also one of the oldest square plays. These plays' have the unique tricks and rules, so if the player that falls from horseback can climb on horseback within 3 minutes he is not considered defeated.
In this article, square plays and zorkhana games which are the part of the folklore of ancient Oguz ceremony that requires physical activity and agility will be analyzed separately and general information will be given about these games.
