questions in relation to Devon. Ask
What was Devon worried about? (
He joined an orchestra, and the previous violin player played better than he did. )
How did the children help? (
They helped him practice. )
What happened in the end? (
He played very well at the concert, and the children became his best friends. )

Ask students to think of an imaginary situation where
someone has a problem and friends help. They then
make notes in the chart. Circulate and help with new
vocabulary. Provide bilingual dictionaries if necessary.

on Workbook page 42 to help them. Point out that
the beginning of the interview is an introduction to
the person who’s being interviewed in it and some
background information about the problem.

Students can practice their interviews in pairs. Volunteer
pairs can perform their interview for the class.
