THE POSSIBILITIES OF PASSION TO ORGANIC LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION AND AN EVALUATION ON TURKEY
Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system. The main aim of organic agriculture is to keep the health and to optimize productivity of independent communities of soil life, plants, animals and people.

Today in the world, organic agriculture is accepted as an alternative production system. The importance of organic livestock products (especially milk, poultry meat, egg and honey) has risen enourmously in many developed/developing countries (European Union Countries, USA, Canada, Argentina etc.).

Organic agricultural activities in Turkey began in 1984 aimed at exportation. With this development organic beekeeping is now the first important organic livestock activity and for five years organic honey has been exported. Now, organic production methods can be regulated by EU legislation standarts.

The aim of organic livestock is to keep the animal in good health by providing good organic feed and care, and the choice of animal genotype and the suitable conditions of dams.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the necessity of the passion to organic livestock production, the principles of organic livestock and the practises of organic livestock in some selected countries, in the future the problems of organic livestock production in Turkey and solutions for improvement of organic livestock production.
