A contribution made by each shipper, according to the value of his goods shipped, towards a loss or expense incurred in time of peril at sea by an act of sacrifice for the general good. Is usually recoverable under the ordinary marine insurance policy.
General Cargo
Any cargo that is not carried in a container or vehicle/machinery that can be loaded/discharged using its own power, e.g. palletised, bagged, bales, bundles, crates, etc.
