Since the NIST CVS server is no longer operative, this joint meeting explores the options for replacing this with a Subversion (SVN) server hosted by Elysium, the same company that hosts the WG11 document repository.
The repository is located at:
http://wg11.sc29.org/svn/repos
The NIST CVS files have already been moved to the new SVN repository.
It is proposed that each MPEG Subgroup designate a SuperUser contact that manages a SuperUser account. The primary Subgroup SuperUser can designate additional SuperUsers that may manage specific software projects within a Subgroup. There may also be WebMaster accounts. Either SuperUser or WebMaster can create individual accounts that permit code check-in. It is possible to create “Read-only” accounts.
The repository would be for MPEG delegates only, and could be isolated, to a large extent, into subgroup activities and associated software and SVN branches. Its value is, first, to make MPEG reference software available to all MPEG delegates, and second, to facilitate software development via CVS-like functionality.
The Audio Chair will be the contact for SVN activities and SuperUser management. His first action is to designate which Audio-supervised software activities will use the SVN repository. A survey of Audio experts indicates the following near-term candidates:
His second action is to gather the requirements that the SVN server must satisfy in order to meet the software development needs of the Audio Subgroup. A survey of Audio experts indicates the following requirements:
