The company is one of the oldest Internship Placements in South Africa and has been in existence since 1997. Cape Town is an attractive city for tourists all around the world. The city is beautiful and the landscapes around it are fantastic! There is a lot to do around the city. Hiking Table Mountain, sunset cruises, visiting game parks, surfing, visiting Cape of Good Hope, a vibrant night life, loads of good restaurants and exciting adventure sporting activities are just some of our amazing activities!

XChange SA has partnership offices located in Germany, Ireland, the USA and Mauritius and our office in Cape Town focuses on companies around Cape Town, Johannesburg, the Garden Route, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London. We had students from more than 53 nationalities to date. We mainly accept applications we know we would be able to place in a good internship or volunteer placement.

The country & Cape Town

Cape Town is home to many different cultures and ethnic groups. People from all over Africa come to work in the city and there are many Europeans who immigrated to the city and country over the years. The mix of cultures, nationalities and the large difference between poor and rich makes Cape Town a very interesting city. We usually advise students to come to a city like Cape Town where it is safe and you also have the opportunity to stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world as well.

Our offer

  We arrange internships; assist with visa applications and issue and send all the necessary documents to you; arrange student accommodation in shared houses or apartments that is affordable and suitable student living and co-ordinate the process on behalf of the student and the firm locally.

  We will be your permanent contact partner providing advice and support throughout your application process and assistance with visa formalities and logistics locally.

  Students are met at the airport on their arrival and taken to their accommodation.

  You are briefed on local issues and given a supplementary information pack of brochures, personalized information, a local simcard and maps. Prior to arrival, you will further receive information to assist you to prepare for your visit to the country. We spend several hours with each student on arrival to ensure that the first impression of Cape Town or South Africa is positive and lasting.

  We accompany you to your place of work on your first day and monitor progress at regular intervals with the company concerned.

  XChange facilitates a social program for the students, distributes an internal weekly news bulletin, and arranges cultural and social outings from time to time to ensure that you enjoy your stay in the country, meet other young people or are able to get good discounts for such activities.

  We would find a placement for you based on your university requirements and your own personal interests. We therefore consider your career, personal and academic requirements when we work with you in finding placements. We further work according to your time frame to ensure that we are able to place you for the time you have available to visit our country or one of the other countries we work with.

  We offer an introduction to Cape Town, guidance in using public transport in South Africa, car rentals, booking of overland tours and a permanent local contact partner during your stay.
