Abstract

THE CREATORS OF ARCHIVAL RESOURCES IN LOCAL HISTORY STUDIES

The aim of this study is to analyse archival materials, which form one of the resources that present the traces of local history, and especially the institutions by which these materials are produced. Obviously archival materials are produced by a wide range of institutions. Similarly, the producers of archival documents that can be the resources of local history are quite various. The sources that produce those documents are the country units of central governments, public administrations (governor's offices and district administrations), local administrations (municipalities, special provincial administrations and neighbourhood administrations), autonomous organizations (chambers, stock markets, associations, cooperatives, etc.), private enterprises (business enterprises that produce goods and services), the media, non – governmental societies, and persons and families. These institutions, which are given through a general categorization, produce documents that have various research values and physical structures playing a useful and effective role in the research of local history. Those documents provide the opportunity to analyse a region from many different aspects like its social, economic, and cultural structure and the traditions, conventions, language, religion, life, habits, etc. pertaining to its folklore.
