5.7: Limitations affecting ICT utilization With the development of proper technological infrastructure still in its infancy, it can be assumed that there would be problems hampering ICT utilization. There are several limitations in the use of ICTs amongst the schools participating, the most notable being the lack of electricity (55; 15%) as illustrated on table 9. Interestingly, even schools that are known to have electricity available had respondents citing it as a problem. Perhaps certain classrooms lack electricity, or plugs don’t work, which would hamper the use of ICTs. The lack of trained teachers (33; 9%) with the ability to assist learners in acquiring ICT skills is also a problem that needs to be addressed.
