MX - National Integrated Solid Waste Management: The project will contribute to the following higher-level objectives: (i) improvement of public health and quality of life through reducing exposure to pollutants and disease vectors from solid waste; (ii) improvement of institutional capacity at the three levels of government through establishing cutting-edge technical, administrative and financial models for integrated solid waste management (SWM); (iii) enhancement of the SWM legal and regulatory framework in order to promote policy reforms; (iv) support the development of recycling and waste reduction programs nationwide; (v) improve local governance through enhancing cooperation among sub-national governments; and (v) address social inclusion through supporting social integration of informal waste pickers with training and formalization of waste separation programs.
