Livingston – Funeral services for Lelia Virginia Cockrell, 76, of Livingston were held Tuesday, March 10, 1992, from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rod Averitt officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Cockrell died

March 7, 1992 in Lufkin. She was born Oct. 15, 1915 in Krum, Texas, the daughter of Charles Arthur Davis and Clara Ann Fisher Davis. She was a member of the First Baptist

Church of Sanger. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Charlie Foster of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Shelby Jackson of Livingston; five grandsons, Doug Foster and Gary and his wife Lolia Foster, all of Lufkin, and Ricky Pace, Steven Pace and Rusty Pace, all of Livingston; and three great-granddaughters, Danielle Foster, Jessica Foster and Ashley Foster,

all of Lufkin. Pallbearers were Doug Foster, Gary Foster, Ricky Pace, Steven Pace, Rusty

Pace and Ronny Pace. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

CARL JACKSON (CJ) COGDILL 84, passed away on November 15, 2007 in Houston, Texas. He was born December 4, 1922 in Thorpe Springs, Texas. He was the youngest of 7 sons and 1 daughter born to Alfred and Gertrude Cogdill. He is preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sister. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernice K. Cogdill and many nieces and nephews. Carl was baptized at the Lipan Church of Christ in Lipan,

Texas. After open heart surgery in 1981, Carl became a fixture in the neighborhood as he made his daily walks. Along the way, Carl would find abandoned lawnmowers, take them home, repair them and then, return them to their original owners or find them a new home. He will be missed by all who saw and greeted him on his rounds. Carl will be laid to rest in Bold Springs Cemetery in Bold Spring, Texas on Saturday, November 17, 2007 after a

private graveside service.

Livingston – Graveside services for Herbert “Red” Cogdill, 77, of Onalaska were held Wednesday, June 14, 1995, from Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Raines officiating. Mr. Cogdill died June 11 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1917 in Granbury, the son of Alfred Cogdill and Gertrude Mayfield Cogdill, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Cogdill was a retired truck driver for Western Auto.

Survivors include his sister, Nora Bell Tomlinson of Comanche, Okla.; two brothers, Larkin Cogdill of Norfolk, N. Y. and Carl Cogdill and his wife Bernice of Houston; and niece, Marie Howell of Deer Park. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON – Funeral services for J. C. Coker, 83, of Livingston were held Friday,

Aug. 26, 1994, from the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Harold Isaacs of the First Baptist Church of Moscow officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Coker died Thursday, Aug. 25, in Lufkin. He was born Aug. 24 in Denton County, the

son of Lawrence J. Coker and Lila Yerby Coker. He moved to the Colita community in Polk County at the age of 8 years and attended the local schools. On April 29, 1930 he married

the former Willie Mae McCarty in Livingston. To this union three children were born, all

of whom survive. Mr. Coker worked for the Livingston Independent School District for

30 years as a mechanic and bus driver. He farmed and ranched all of his life and was the

last farmer in Polk County to grow a cotton crop. Mr. Coker had a large garden every year, providing for his family and his neighbors. He was also an avid fisherman.

Mr. Coker was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He helped in the raising of all his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie Mae, earlier this year; and one brother Woodrow Coker. Survivors include one son, Billy Coker and wife Mary Helen of Colita; two daughters, Virginia Aubrey Hubert and husband Dick of Livingston, and Carol Pridgen and husband Joe of Colita; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jimmy Bowen, David Aubrey, James Aubrey, John Aubrey,

Chuck Aubrey and John Coker. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Scott, Larry Miller, Mike Bowen, Lloyd Coker and Terry Browning. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
