Purpose: This instruction covers the testing and commissioning of all replacements or new installations of high voltage mixed cable.
Note: Mixed cable refers to different types of cable (made of different insulation materials and construction methods) that are inseparably linked together. Whenever possible, the individual cables comprising a mixed cable circuit should be tested before the cables are jointed. The following tests must be carried out after installation, alteration, repairs or jointing and before the cable is put into service.
Note: Bolts and screws in all electrical connections across the Western Power network must be properly tightened.
