In the contribution, concerns raised at the 111th MPEG meeting were addressed. It builds upon Spatial Relationship Description (SRD) and addresses the following issues:
-
Video zoom control without lowering resolution
-
Transmission of zoom area information from TV to AV receiver
-
Production-side zoom control for 3D Audio
SRD is specified in MPEG-H HEVC specification. Using this information, the proposal can:
-
Simulcast normal and zoomed video streams.
-
Use timed metadata and two adaptation sets of DASH segments
The presenter asks that production-side zoom control be adopted into MPEG-H Phase 2.
The required changes to the audio specification are:
-
80 b/s (no k) when no zoom active (1 zoom area)
-
90 kb/s when zoom active (1 zoom area)
Nils Peters, Qualcomm, noted that there might be a possibility of video zoom and audio zoom information will be in conflict.
The Chair asked if, given an edited video with zoom relative to the original video, can production-side zoom be put into same format as user-side audio zoom? This needs more discussion.
This proposal will continue to be discussed.
