TOPIC #1:
Some people think that instead of preventing climate change, we need to find a way to
live with it. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
SAMPLE
Climate change is arguably the most alarming problem in the world, and people often disagree on
how it must be addressed. Despite the availability of some solutions, there are people who believe
that instead of preventing climate change, we must adapt to live with it. I totally
disagree since
ignoring the ongoing impact of climate change may result in more biodiversity loss as well as the
potential problem with climate refugees.
The annual change in global temperatures has been affecting ecosystems on a global-scale.
Numerous species of animals have gone extinct, and the same tendency
may continue if the issue
of climate change is not met with rational solutions, such as geoengineering and gradual
transition
to renewable sources of energy. At the moment, there are particular endangered species that may
die out if people do not mitigate the effects of climate change. Polar bears are a great example.
Climate change results in Arctic
ice melting, meaning these bears’ habitat is slowly being
destroyed.
Another massive problem that could have a global impact is the rising number of climate refugees.
In other words, due to often ignored climatic changes, millions of people could soon be forced to
migrate abroad to survive. The truth is, some regions of the world are more affected by climate
change than others, making it too difficult for people to enjoy life, especially
in harsh winters and
scorching summers. Therefore, if people just accept that they have to live with climate instead of
preventing it, climate migration could be one of the most adverse developments of the 21st
century.
In conclusion, the idea that we should simply ignore the effects of climate change is
dangerous, as
there are detrimental consequences of such approach.
