US Muslim Charity Launches #OneNationOneCause

Back2School Drive in 35 states, in 70 + cities, over 30 days

Calls on Community to Help with Donations

Dallas, TX, August 11, 2018 - The national non-profit, ICNA RELIEF ( Islamic Circle of North America Relief;www.icnarelief.org), will distribute 3650 backpacks and supplies to children in need locally, a $54,750 value , as part of their #OneNationOneCause Back2School Drive, taking place in 35 states, in 70+ cities, over 30 days.

Community members are invited to contribute donations at icnareliefdallas.org/back2school. The supplies are being raised in collaboration with partners including local faith groups, non-profits, schools and businesses. The distribution event is from 10:00 a.m -12:00 p.m at 7317 Holly Hill DR, Dallas, TX 75231 on August 11, 2018. Our partners from Texas alone include Masjid Al Sahaba, Watauga; MAS (Muslim American Society) Dallas, Richardson; Texas Muslim Women's Foundation, Plano; BEAM School’ Blue Fig Store; Epic Masjid, Plano, TX; West Plano Masjid, Plano; Stevens Park Elementary, Dallas; Eloise Lundy Recreation Center, Dallas, and more, nationwide.




“ This drive, #OneNationOneCause, is an expression of solidarity. We stand together, and are committed to being there for our neighbors, especially the most vulnerable. These are Islamic principles and universal human values in action. We are grateful to all our partners for coming together as one,” said Mr. Maqsood Ahmed, ICNA Relief CEO.

“When you realize that so many kids are missing school because their parents cannot afford to buy them basic necessities like backpacks, shoes, clothes, school supplies, etc., you feel the urge to create this kind of relief project. These kids are waiting for someone to help them,” said Hala Halabi, Director of Refugees facilitation, ICNA Relief Dallas.




In 2017 alone, ICNA Relief distributed 27,075 backpacks with supplies, in 187 locations in 26 states. Since 2009, ICNA Relief has distributed 150,000 backpacks filled with supplies, nationwide to needy children. Its services include 15 transitional shelters for women and children, car donations, refugee assimilation programs, professional counseling and food pantries.
