Soft Drinks
Do you have a favourite soft drink?
No, I don't. In fact, people consuming or ingesting I should say sugary carbonated drinks,
I mean to each their own.
I'm not going to judge people for what they do
but I do think that
that's
an enormous contributing factor
to people
struggling to keep their weight down
or
to
follow a diet
because people drink
far more calories than they actually realise
. Like a
glass of orange juice, they think oh that's a lot of vitamin C, that's good. But that glass of
orange juice might be 300 calories and a lot of sugar. And similarly a glass of Coca Cola
has
an inordinate amount of sugar
.
Do many people in your country drink soft drinks?
In Ireland? I think so, yes. In France I don't see it that often to be perfectly honest. Every
time I see people really drinking would be coffee in bistros or at a certain hour, usually
around seven or eight, people have
an apéro which is a light alcoholic drink before dinner
.
When was the last time you drank a soft drink?
I honestly can't remember.
I mean the only sort of
sweetened beverage
that I enjoy is I
take a carbonated water and I
mix it with a sugar free cordial
which is sort of like a sweet
syrup that you add to water and
it's actually very refreshing
. It's like a
virgin cocktail
.
There's no alcohol in it but it tastes really good and there's no sugar.
