I refer to your information request received by the Council on 29 March 2009 in which you ask for the following information:
“ I would be thankful if you could provide information as to how many employees SLC currently has on a salary which falls between spinal column points 44 and 67 on the local government pay scale and also the numbers between scp 68 and 73.
Also, if you would be kind enough to indicate how these figures compare with those of 10 years ago (or as far back as you hold records).
I would also be interested to find out how many of these positions will be lost as part of the current cost saving exercise”
The Council can give you some of the information that you have requested. The details of current staff whose salary falls between spinal column points 44 and 67 and the numbers between scp 68 and 73 are shown below. These are actual staff numbers, not full time equivalents.
SLC now pay staff using hourly rates, not annual salary, however we have equated these hourly rates to the salary scale you are referring to.
Current information on posts removed from the Council structures can be found via the Committee section of the publication scheme which can be accessed by way of the Council website (Executive committee 09/09/2009).
We have an internal panel (the review panel) to deal with complaints from people who are not happy about the way that we have handled their request. Staff not involved in the original decision will handle any review.
If you want to complain, you can ask the review panel to reassess our actions. Please note that if you wish to complain, you must do so by 24 June 2010. You must explain why you are not happy when requesting a review.
You should send your request for a review to:
If you are not happy with the outcome of the review, you can appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner. The Commissioner will decide whether the Council has dealt with your request properly. Please see the Commissioner’s website at www.itspublicknowledge.info for further details.
