SONG PARODY (may be done alone, in pairs, or a group of three)

Take a popular or well-known song (recent or old) and rewrite the lyrics to fit the novel.

• 
  First, print out or write the actual lyrics.
  
• 
  Then, rewrite MOST (if not all) of the lyrics so that it relates to The Giver.
  

Show how you made the changes on paper.

• 
  Then rewrite the lyrics of your new song. It must be neat and follow the same pattern/rhyme scheme as the original song. TYPE the final copy.
  
• 
  It must include many Giver words, themes, characters and plot elements to achieve a high score. Changing a couple of lines is not enough!
  
• 
  You must have it on a word document on a flash drive or shared with me, so the whole class can see the lyrics on the smartboard.

  Practice singing this song because it MUST be performed in front of the class if you want an “A”
  

(many people can sing with you as long as they have practiced and know how the song goes)
