Investigation of Cataclysmic Variable Stars ın the Context of the Period Gap In this study, 1119 cataclysmic variables with known orbital periods from Ritter and Kolb (2003; rev. 7.20, 2013), Szkody et al. (2011), Downes et al. (1993, 1997, 2001) are chosen and studied in the light of the Standard Model by creating the orbital period distribution. It is shown in this study that the observational and theoretical orbital periods are not in good agreement. While the number of dwarf novae are decreasing, the nova-like variables are contrary increasing from long periods towards period gap (especially for periods shorter than 4 hours) in the orbital period distribution. This change might be a clue for evolution of dwarf novae into nova-like variables.
