Lıquıd - Lıquıd Equılıbrıa Of Water - Carboxylıc Acıd - Dıbutyl Ether Systems At Dıfferent Temperatures
Several separation techniques have been used to separate carboxylic acids from dilute aqueous solutions, and liquid - liquid extraction is one of these.
Liquid - liquid equilibrium data of the related systems are required for design of the liquid extraction processes.
In this study formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acids were investigated as carboxylic acids, and dibutyl ether was investigated as solvent.
Equilibrium data of water - carboxylic acid - solvent ternary systems were investigated at 293.15 K, 303.15 K and 313.15 K. Solubility curves and tie lines were determined experimentally for each ternary system. Distribution coefficients and separation factors of each system were calculated from experimental data. The reliability of experimental data was ascertained by Hand and Othmer - Tobias correlations.
