Signal Processing Techniquies for Wireless Optical Communication
In this thesis, optical wireless communication with serial and parallel relay asissted decode and forward systems are investigated. Firstly optical wireless communication is presented. Then, the differences between direct transmission, serial and parallel relay asissted decode and forward systems in optical wireless communication are compared. For three of them theoretical outage probability analysis are calculated and the performance results are compared by computer simulations. Serial and parallel relay asissted transmission models have more advantages compared to direct transmision. The distance between source and destination will become shorter by using relays. Because of the distance dependancy of log amplitude variance in optical wireless communication, high SNR gain is provided by using relay asissted system model.
In addition to all studies in literature, relay selection method is suggested for optical wireless communication. For this method, analitical expressions of outage probability is derivated and that are verified by computer simulations. As a result, in optical wireless communication some of SNR gain is provided by implemented relay selection method to parallel relaying decode and forward transmission model.
