Treatment Of Landfill Leachate By Membrane Bioreactor And Nanofiltration Technology
In this study, treatment of leachate from İstanbul-Şile Kömürcüoda Municipal Solid Waste Landfill by membrane bioreactor (MBR) and nanofiltration (NF) technology is examined.
With in the scope of this study, treatment methods for leachate in Turkey and all around the world are reviewed, analysis of untreated leachate, outlet of MBR, outlet of nanofiltration from Kömürcüoda Leachate Treatment Plant is examined. 16-month period analysis, from January 2009 to April 2010, for COD, NH4-N, PO4-P, Total-P, SS, NO3-N, NO2-N, pH rewieved in detail and treatment efficiency of plant evaluated.
Biological treatment efficiency evaluated depending on temperature, oxygen, pH, and other factors. High treatment efficiency has been achieved in conditions of 15ºC or higher temperature, pH 8 and in the presence of sufficient oxygen ( >2 mg/L ). When appropriate bioreactor conditions obtained, increase of UF acordingly NF membranes performance observed.
In addition, changing the efficiency of treatment plant with inlet and outlet parameters using artificial neural network investigated. MATLAB 2009a was used for modelling studies. As a result of review, input parameters of COD, nitrogen , suspended solid, temperature and MLVSS have the maximum effect of plant’s efficiency. Treatment plant data have predicted approximate value of % 86 by model.
As a result of the study; % 98 treatment efficiency were acquired in terms of COD and N parameters when MBR+NF systems used.
