Learning of Mathematics helps in daily life of an individual.
●
Mathematics should be considered as a core subject area in school curriculum
due to its wide applications.
●
As per National Curriculum Framework (2005), mathematisation of the mind
of the child will be the vision of school Mathematics.

The narrower aim of teaching school Mathematics is to develop useful capa-
bilities, particularly those
relating to numeracy- numbers, its operations, mea-
surements, decimals and percentages.

The higher aim is to develop the child's resources to think and reason math-
ematically, to pursue assumptions to their logical conclusions and to handle
abstractions.

In order to fulfil
the vision of mathematisation, curriculum should be con-
structed based on measurable and attainable objectives.

While developing Mathematics curriculum with a vision of mathematisation,
curriculum designers should keep in mind some basic principles of curriculum
development.
