What do we Measure?
Measurement is one of the three methods of science. Measuring things, we compare them with their units. A unit is an accepted measurement. Scientific units are the same all over the world. Therefore, they are international. Some units are basic. They are defined. Below some types of basic measurements are explained, their units are written in brackets.
1. Length - dimension from end to end (meter) of an object.
2. Mass - dimension of the amount of (kilogram) matter.
3. Time - dimension from end to end (second) of a happening.
4. Temperature - dimension of hotness (degree) Celsius/ Fahrenheit.
Some units are derived. They are derived by using, the basic units.
Some of the derived units are:
1. Area - dimension of the surface (square meter).
2. Volume - dimension of the amount (cubic) of space meter.
3. Speed - unit of the velocity meter/ second.
4. Weight - dimension of the pull (Newton) of the earth on an object.
