Apart from some non-parametric tests we have also tried to test the statistical strength of some crucial factors, which are believed to influence gender inequality. Given the limitations of district level data, we have selected the following set of independent variables which have proved statistically significant in influencing sex ratio and work participation rate for female separately for rural and urban areas as also for a time series cross-section pooled data set for 1991 and 2001.
