The Government has endorsed the outcomes of a pricing review for the Australian Nuclear Science Technology Organisation (ANSTO) resulting in an overall change in ANSTO’s resourcing of $8.4m in 2001-02, with further increases in subsequent years. It particularly reflects the Government’s agreement that ANSTO should be provided with funding to meet the increased costs associated with regulation. The review found that ANSTO’s price for operating its nuclear facilities and delivering core nuclear expertise is appropriate and the Government recognises that its management and pricing are consistent with world’s best practice.
