The test procedure including instructions of subjects, evaluation of subjects and selection of displays was checked during a dry run of the future subjective test during this meeting using facilities kindly provided by EPFL. This resulted in a further refinement of the CfP and related documents. The final rates for the test sequences required some minor modification that will be finalized during an editing period after this meeting.
The 3DV evaluation will be carried out within the framework depicted in Figure 1. The quality of individual views will be evaluated objectively. Only the randomly selected stereo pairs and multi-view sets with synthesized views will be subjectively evaluated. Obviously, the rate for coding all components of a proposed data format will be considered.
Figure 1 Evaluation frame worked for 3DV A CfP was issued at this meeting. Minor updates may be published at the 97th meeting. Anchor sequences are encoded using MVC and HEVC. Evaluation will be carried out prior to the 98th meeting. The call will be open to all technologies including AVC, MVC, HEVC and others. These technologies are separated into the two categories AVC-Compatible as well as HEVC-Compatible & Unconstrained. MPEG will decide on the use of the proposed techniques, i.e. technology proposed based on AVC might be used in the standard in order to adapt HEVC to 3DV.
