Chapter 6: The Errors & Blasphemy of the Quran & Islam

Errors of the Quran

The House of Imran – Al El Imran سُوۡرَةُ آل عِمرَان

Ask any Muslim about the Quran and they will tell you that it the book is “the perfect words of Allah. There are no mistakes or inconsistencies”. Well this may be what they have been led to believe, but the facts are quite different. There are many issues that we could look at in the Quran, but for the sake of space we will now look at one of the most glaring errors, in the third chapter, called “Al El Imran” or “The House of Imran”.

To understand the error, we must first look at the truth, which is given to us across various books in the Old and New Testaments. It must be noted that certain fact checks can also be made if the student were to look at some of the Apocryphal books such as:

First then, we will take a quick look at two Biblical families, those being The family of Moses and the family of Jesus of Nazereth. All we are interested in here are the parents of these two men:

There are four names of concern that we need to be clear about, those being:

  Mary & Miriam
  
• 
  Amram & Imran
  

Firstly, we will look at Mary & Miriam. If you have a copy of Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance (13), look up “Mary” in the Greek:

Greek #3137 = Maria or Mariam (of Hebrew #4813) the name of 6 Christian females – Mary.
Now we will look up Miriam in Hebrew:
Hebrew #4813 = Mirjam – the name of two Israelitesses – Miriam.
The two names are used interchangeably. The difference is simply one of pronunciation from the much older Aramaic, through Hebrew of the Old Testament and then the Coine Greek of the New Testament.

The significance of the similarity and use of the names will become apparent shortly.

It’s enough to know at this point that in Arabic, the name Miriam is also the same as Mary.
Now we will look at Imran and Amram:
Hebrew #6019 – Amram – meaning “High People” (from H#5971 & H#7311)
Descendants of Amram became known as the Amramites (Numbers 3:27; 1 Chronicles 26:23) and there is no reference to this name in the New Testament.
As for the name of Imran there is no mention of a name with that spelling in the Bible at all. But you will of course note the great similarity between the two names.
So having discovered the connections between names, we will now expose the grave error in the Quran. To do that, we need to read from the chapter in the Quran Called “The House of Imran:
The House of Imran 3:33-50

   Lo! Allah preferred Adam and Noah and the Family of Abraham and the Family of 'Imran above (all His) creatures. (33) They were descendants one

   of another. Allah is Hearer, Knower. (34) (Remember) when the wife of 'Imran said: My Lord! I have vowed unto Thee that which is in my belly as a consecrated (offering). Accept it from me. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the

   Hearer, the Knower! (35) And when she was delivered she said: My Lord! Lo! I am delivered of a female - Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and lo! I have named her Mary, and lo! I crave Thy protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast. (36) And her Lord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a

   goodly growth; and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah went into the sanctuary where she was, he found that she had food. He said: O Mary! Whence cometh unto thee this (food)? She answered: It is from Allah. Allah giveth without stint to whom He will. (37) Then Zachariah prayed unto his Lord and said: My Lord! Bestow upon me of Thy bounty goodly offspring. Lo! Thou art the Hearer of Prayer. (38) And the angels called to

   lordly, chaste, a prophet of the righteous. (39) He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when age hath overtaken me already and my wife is barren? (The angel) answered: So (it will be). Allah doeth what He will. (40) He said: My Lord! Appoint a token for me. (The angel) said: The token unto thee (shall be) that thou shalt not speak unto mankind three days except by signs. Remember thy Lord much, and praise (Him) in the early hours of night and

   morning. (41) And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation. (42) O Mary! Be obedient to thy Lord, prostrate thyself and bow with those who bow (in worship). (43) This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad). Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarrelled (thereupon).

Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah).    manhood, and he is of the righteous. (46) She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it

    is. (47) And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel, (48) And will make him a messenger unto the Children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are to be

    believers. (49) And (I come) confirming that which was before me of the Torah, and to make lawful some of that which was forbidden unto you. I come unto you with a sign from your Lord, so keep your duty to Allah and obey me. (50)
    

As you can see above, I have highlighted and numbered some areas of surah 3 for us to look at in more detail. So let’s follow it through from the beginning:

   The writer (presumed to be the illiterate Muhammad) connects the ancestry from Adam to Noah, Abraham and finally the mysterious Imran.
   
2. 
   The wife of Imran is pregnant with a child.
   
3. 
   She delivers a female child, then names her Mary
   
4. 
   Now someone called Zachariah is given to Mary as a guardian
   
5. 
   Then Allah promises Zachariah a son who will be called John
   
6. 
   Zechariah asks how this is possible since his wife is barren?
   
7. 
   The “angels” tell Mary she is special and chosen
   
8. 
   The “Angels” tell Mary she will have a son who will be the Messiah and called Jesus
   
9. 
   Mary says no man has touched her (virgin) and how is it possible for her to have a child?
   
10. 
    Jesus is to be taught and will learn all the Torah and the Gospel to be a messenger to Israel.
    
11. 
    Allah says that he (through the writing of the Quran) confirms all the Torah. Also indicating that Jesus is a sign from Allah.
    

I’m sure you will have spotted the obvious error by now, which is that the writer has made a grave error in thinking that the sister of Moses (Miriam) is the same Miriam (Mary) as the mother of Jesus. To anyone that understands the Bible even on a surface level, this must stand out as complete nonsense. They lived approximately 3000 years apart!

As you follow through the passage, it is quite clear to see that this is information taken from the Christian Gospels. Zechariah had a barren wife (Elizabeth) to whom God promised a son, to be called John, who goes on to be John the Baptist who “(who cometh) to confirm a word from Allah” or actually, comes to proclaim the coming of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

The passage also goes on to describe the virgin birth. But please notice one more thing. In my #10 above, it says, “And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel, (48)”. So the Quran is saying that Allah will teach Jesus the Gospel? That makes no sense at all, since it is the life and ministry of Jesus himself that the Gospels speak of.

I will just point out here that there is also a whole Surah dedicated to Maryam (Miriam or Mary) which is Surah 19.

Surah 19:27-35

They said: O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing. (27) O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man nor was thy mother a harlot. (28) Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy? (29) He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet, (30) And hath made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and hath enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I remain alive, (31) And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest. (32) Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive! (33) Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt. (34) It befitteth not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is. (35)
The previous part of this surah and the remaining parts speak in more detail about Zechariah and Mary, which compounds and also confirms the error in Surah 3. Instead of the error being isolated, Surah 19 emphasises it!
So the context of the passage above is clear. It is set in the time of Mary and the birth of Christ, yet please note, the Quranic writer seems to think that the brother of Moses (who died 3000 years previously) is the brother of Aaron!
You will also notice in the above passage that the new born baby Jesus makes a nice long speech of his own!
It is quite obvious that the writer of this fantasy book called the Quran has scant understanding of Jewish and Christian scripture. If this were something authored by God, then it would indeed be perfect. As it stands, this is an error which cannot be explained away. This is proof positive that the Quran is false.
