[57] A method of determining the statistical significance of a difference between haplotype frequency profiles of at least two groups of individuals comprising:
(a) determining the combined likelihood that said at least two groups of individuals are derived from the same distribution of haplotypes;
(b) determining the sum of the separate likelihoods that each of said at least two groups of individuals are derived from the same distribution of haplotypes;
(c) determining the difference of said sum and said combined likelihood; and
(d) determining the significance of this difference by simulating hypothetical groups by randomly permuting the haplotypes between groups to determine the probability that the groups do not come from the same distribution of haplotypes.

[57] A communication device which has a remote controller and a device body and which provides audio and video communication via a communication line, through operation of the remote controller, wherein the device body comprises a main control unit for controlling the communication device as a whole, and a special button which is pressed to input an operation signal to the main control unit, wherein the special button serves as at least two functional buttons, as automatically allotted by the main control unit, the types of the functional buttons including: an answer button for receiving an incoming call when an incoming call is received from a remote communication device; a hang-up button for disconnecting a communication while a communication is going on with the remote communication device; and a call button for making a call to a pre-registered line number when the device body is not in action, wherein the main control unit controls at least two actions according to an operation signal inputted by the special button, said actions including: establishment of a communication line with a remote control device when an incoming call is received therefrom; disconnection of a communication while a communication is going on with the remote control device; and making of a call to a pre-registered line number when the device body is not in action.
